Difficult Interview – Overall Negative Experience – No – Mon, 8 Jun 2015

Interviewed Mar 2015 in Milwaukee, WI(took 90 days)
The first interview began with an online Skype interview consisting of five questions. There was not a person asking the questions but someone recorded from the company asking the questions. At the beginning of each question, the question was stated and you had 30 seconds to prepare. Once the 30 seconds were up, you have a total of five minutes to answer. I only used about 30 seconds to a minute to answer each question. It took a couple weeks to hear back if I would be moving forward in the interview process. I was selected to move forward and was flown out for an all day interview with about 100 other applicants. We were flown out on a Wednesday and the interviews took place on Thursday. Wednesday night, we checked into our hotel, took a bus tour with all other applicants (both interns and full-time) of Milwaukee. After our bus tour we were taken to a dinner with the company and all other applicants. The placed all of us at specific tables and the applicants at our tables made up the team we would be group interviewing with the next day (so get a feel for the dynamic of the group, strengths, weaknesses, and support each other.) After dinner we were taken back to our hotel for the night. The day of the interviews we took a bus to Kohl's campus. All applicants were broken up into two different groups. One group went on to do their individual interviews first which consisted of three personal interviews with three buyers at different levels (Assistant Buyer, Planner, and Senior Buyers.) All members of your group from the night before interviewed with the same three interviewers. The other group received a full tour of the facilities and a Q&A with current employees. Then the groups flip-flopped. Lastly, once that was over our groups from the night before got together and participated in a group interview with the three interviewers we personally interviewed with. They sat in the room and watch as we worked through a problem they asked us. Our question was regarding pop up shops. Should Kohl's participate in pop up shops? If so, when should they hold them, where should they hold them, how much profit do you anticipate to receive from the pop up shops, and who do you expect to shop the pop up shops? We had ten minutes to work through the question as a group, five minutes to present and five minutes for questions. The questions listed below are the questions asked during the online Skype initial interview:
